ScienceFX

Procedural visual engine for Adobe After Effects.

01

Overview

ScienceFX is a Windows plug-in for Adobe After Effects that generates procedural graphics through tessellations, attractors, plasma fields, cymatics, optics, pattern banks and a dedicated Audio Reactor.

Creative modules draw on scientific and mathematical concepts as visual and procedural references — structured for motion design, not as physical or scientific simulation.

Compatibility. ScienceFX v1.0 is Windows-only and compatible with Adobe After Effects 2022 and later. Internal tests were performed with After Effects 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2026 on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Performance. Rendering is CPU-bound. High CPU/RAM usage during preview and render is expected; idle usage returns to a low level. GPU acceleration is not available in v1.0.

Capabilities

01

Procedural engine

Modular pipeline for generating complex visuals from parametric controls and coordinated module stacks.

02

Pattern & Mirror banks

Preset and custom pattern banks with mirror symmetry for repeatable geometric structures.

03

Creative modules

Tessellations, attractors, plasma fields, cymatics, optics and related modules as distinct building blocks.

04

Local per-module Reset

Reset individual modules to defaults without affecting the rest of the effect configuration.

05

Master Evolution

Global evolution control for coordinated parameter drift across the active module set.

06

Global Color

Unified color management across modules within the effect stack.

07

Audio Reactor

Keyframe-driven beat modulation with Off, Test Pulse and Driver modes — see the dedicated section below.

08

AEGP Audio Companion

Companion effect that analyzes composition audio and bakes envelope keyframes separately from rendering.

09

Audio Routing + Custom Matrix

Macro Audio Routing presets plus a Custom Matrix with four modulation slots.

10

8/16/32-bpc support

Native 8, 16 and 32-bit per-channel color depth support within the After Effects pipeline.

03

Audio Reactor

Audio Reactor is built as a two-component system: the ScienceFX effect consumes a keyframable Beat Driver, while the Audio Companion analyzes the composition audio and bakes the envelope into keyframes. This keeps rendering deterministic and separates audio analysis from visual modulation.

  • Beat Driver modes: Off, Test Pulse and Driver.
  • Macro Audio Routing for fast preset-based signal paths.
  • Custom Matrix with four independent modulation slots.
  • Bake profiles: Balanced, Punchy, Smooth and Minimal Keys.
